July Ride Summary
After many event cancellations over the last month, the weather finally held off for our 4th July Trail ride. 380 riders were greeted to a crisp and overcast morning, with low level cloud and mist hanging around all day. Considering the amount of rain we have had in the forest, all trails held up well and after the first lap became arguably some of the best we have had yet.
Between the 6km, 10km, 40km, 20km afternoon loop and the 7km novice track there was something for everyone. This time around saw the inclusion of an ‘extreme’ hill climb near the end of the 40km loop. I don’t know what was more interesting, watching riders try to climb it on the day or the TTBRC crew last week when we were marking it out. The club is trying to include a few extreme sections for the more expert riders, with several on the 20km afternoon loop and now the hill climb on the 40km.
Once again the family ride was well attended, with 50 plus riders going out with accompaniment of TTBRC marshals to hone their skills on the 20km afternoon loop. Some stragglers even missed out on this ride, so remember it leaves at 10.30am sharp and as the track is closed behind them no late comers allowed. On an interesting note, nearly half the rider numbers were made up from the family side of things. Great to see so many families enjoying trail riding together.
So if you missed this ride, our next ride is on the 1st of August. Be there or be boring.
